The house tour: Bare Nekkid

Here's some pictures of the house post movers. We had them take 99% of our books and 80% of our furniture. A week later, I can really get into the minimalist thing, but I really miss having my books around me. In times of stress, I often reread some of my favorite books, and I could really use a couple chapters of comfort right now.
Many, many boxes that I will need to deal with on the other coast.

Here's the empty living room and dining room. The dining room table was a "keep" zone. The couch in the LR is the stagers' -- we actually got rid of our 10yo cat- and kid-destroyed couch on Maplewood Online.

The kitchen is still pretty much the same. Our bedroom is lacking four bookshelves and two dressers.

When the movers moved the armoire in the bedroom, the wall had pulled away a bit and cracked, another couple hundred bucks for our handyman. They also decided that they couldn't get it down the stairs. Voila! I guess the armoire just got shifted to the NEXT move.

The boys' room has gone from awesome-bunkbed-with-steps, two big bookshelves, and a dresser to two twin beds and one bookshelf. Their clothes are in underbed drawers and the closet. Also, apparently the first thing buyers don't want to see when they walk in the house is a glass tank filled with rodents. Crazy! So our beloved gerbils, Darth Maul and Darth Vader (aka Mo and Vader) have moved to the boys'room.

My favorite part of the house: the staircase. Stripped of all the artwork, it looks a wee bit nekkid.

My office, "empty" -- the futon was moved to the TV room and a dresser from the stagers has been moved in.

The TV room, emptied out, plus Evan's beloved nook, barenekkid of his comic boxes. Woe!

Our poor, denuded house. More to come in the next post. Lots of botanical prints and artfully cocked teatrays!
