Hey, y'know what's funny about California?

I'm starting a new series of posts called

Hey, y'know what's funny about California?

My musings and observations about life out here in SoCal, when I am too lazy to write a full blog post.

To whit:

Hey, y'know what's funny about California?

There is gigantic bunches of cilantro everywhere -- at the supermarket, at the deli, at the farmer's market. But there is no Italian Parsley to be found. And don't get me started on Meatloaf Mix.

But you know what's funny? I used to buy a bunch of cilantro every month or so for a specific recipe. It is now on my weekly farmer's market shopping list. Tacos, pico de gallo, fish tacos. I don't make a lot of chowders out here, and as my East Coast friends know, I love me a good chowder. There is no number of bunches of cilantro that can fill my chowder-deprived heart. Sigh. At least the local Whole Foods has Udon!
