Evan made it back from San Diego, exhausted but happy to be home.
We had a little belated birthday party for him.

The Goose wouldn't take off her little Brody-Kaplan kerchief. She looked like she was going out to the kibbutz to pick olives all day.
Among other little goodies, Evan brought home a $10 digital print. It just so happened that I had a frame and and allllllmost perfect matte in the garage, and now the boys have some classy new wall art.
The Goose had a lovely week at Grandview camp. Her teacher is always aware of the older siblings that are just DYYYYING to play at that awesome playground, so she invited us to come over for banana splits.
From one of the older kids: Please do not break my volcano.
Big jugs of water tinted by food coloring, and endless containers to transport them in. Seriously awesome.
And a waterslide, of course.
And a couple chickens to chase.
On the way home, I bought a couple cake pops to insure good behavior from my rotten children and swung by a local office park. Om nom nom.
On Friday, we went back to the Aquatic Center with some of The Goosey Girlfriends.
Oscar is a terrible flirt.
Saturday! To the Beach!
Kite flying!
The Goose was boogieing down to the music from the snack bar.
Monster Island.
Slightly less unflattering large hat.
Burying the Goose in the ground.
It was a good beach day. Proof:
Oscar and I hit up the farmer's market. I bought 10 lbs of those gorgeous heirloom tomatoes.
I made BLTs for the beach trip. I also chopped up some Persian cucumbers and more tomatoes and make a little pickled salad.
I made this recipe for dinner and between Arlo sneaking up and eating all my tomatoes, my 10 lbs of tomatoes were gone.
We realized that if I was going to get serious about freelancing again, I needed to update my software. And that means that I needed a new computer.
It's soooooo pretty. I'm in love.
The next week the boys had camp at the nature center. The Goose and I went to the last library program, which was a delightfully hokey puppet show. She loved it.
Back to the boys. Reptiles!
They came home with pictures of them doing their Gamera imitations.
This is where we have camp. Pretty glorious, right?
We spent a couple blissful afternoons at the pool next door.
Saturday, we went to our favorite local museum. It was the Day of the Cowboy and the Cowgirl.
There was a chuck wagon!
Hands down, the favorite part of the day was the trick roping. There were two weathered old cowboys that helped. We literally had to drag Oscar away multiple times.
Oscar and I went on a scavenger hunt hunt in one of the galleries.
OK Corral.
The Goose made a dancing cow puppet.
Evan bellies up to the bar.
Square dancing!
Those blue nails belong to The Goose. She loves patting the horses. Not so much that she would let me put her down and take a picture, but we loved nuzzling those velvetly noses.
The Goose decorated a horseshoe for a bit, but decided to decorate her hat instead.
If you are in the LA area, please check out the Autry. As far as bang for the buck, our membership there has delivered such joy, great photo ops, and lots of great chili.
We're in Seattle now! More in a couple days.
