The kids and I drove back to Pawling late at night. They got about 3 hours of sleep and I got about fifteen minutes, trapped under the sweating limbs of my two youngest.
We woke up and drove out to Millerton, NY. Our friends Katy and Mister Fuzzy were vacationing in the Berkshires and it seemed like a perfect halfway point. We had some pizza and ice cream and sweated at a playground. But mostly we just gazed at Baby Theo with adoration.

Oscar makes a great toddler-wrangler.
How I loved seeing Katy and Mr. F so happy and such great parents. How much did my kids love pratfalling and and competing to make Theo laugh?
Katy and I always wanted to raise our kids near each other.
We might just have to do it virtually, but they will always be family.
We drove back to the homestead. We made one last trip to the lake, and plucked some Queen Anne's Lace for our annual science experiment.
My dad and the boys built a fire in the fire pit and Mom brought out s'mores makings.
Part of the backyard.
The pool used to be here, but now it's the daisy/pumpkin patch.
The kids enjoyed picking veggies out of the garden during our visit.
Time for ghost stories!
And then time for s'mores.
S'mores was the perfect dessert to top of our long, lovely visit.
It was a wonderful two weeks. If we missed you this trip, we'll see you next year. Hopefully next time Evan will be in tow. Thank you to my folks who provided us with the plane tickets and the homebase, and to the Brody-Kaplans, who gave us a NJ home.
We don't have a large house, but we love visitors. We live about a mile and a half from the Burbank airport, so set your fare alerts and come visit us! The grownups get a room to themselves and the kids bunk on the floor, and we can pack them in. Evan will give you a tour of the WB Lot and I will take you to the Farmer's market, hunt out celebrities at the Toluca Lake Trader Joe's, make you meals to die for and we will hunt down the elusive Om Nom Nom Vietnamese Taco truck.
Thanks for an awesome 2012 tour.
xoxo A, O, A and L
